Trenčín á la Giuseppe Arcimboldo
Giuseppe Arcimboldo (5.4.1526 - 11.7.1593)
was an Italian painter, costume designer and engineer. He worked as a court
portraitist in Vienna and in Prague. Rudolf II, The Holy Roman Emperor, granted
Arcimboldo a noble title and a coat of arms for his portraits painted in the
form of still lives full of fruits and vegetables.
In the painting you can see Matthew III
Csák (Matúš Čák Trenčiansky) with his residential castle – Trenčín castle.
Are you sick of various texts and "funny"
remarks on clothes? Present art instead, show people around you Slovakia and
its beautiful places – show that this country is not a "hole" (diera) in the
heart of Europe…
