Bratislava á la Salvador Dalí
Salvador Felip Jacint Dalí Domènech
(11.5.1904 - 23.1.1989) was a Catalonian surrealist painter, one of the most
famous artists of the 20th century with an unmistakable artistic
style. His paintings are based on dream and imagination. The everyday subjects
are enriched with unusual, often surprising forms.
The work captures the landmarks of the
Slovak capital – the castle, Most SNP ("Bridge of the Slovak National
Uprising") with the iconic restaurant "UFO", the Kamzík TV Tower and, of
course, Danube. In author's dreamy reality, the bridge is moved to a slightly
sexual position. The castle hovers above it in the background as a symbol of
sovereignty, also with the remains of a Celtic oppida or, if you prefer, the
parliamentary garages. Bratislava's oppidum from the times of Roman empire is
the first urban area with brick buildings in the Central European environment.
