Bojnice castle a lá Salvador Dalí
Salvador Felip Jacint Dalí Domènech
(11.5.1904 - 23.1.1989) was a Catalonian surrealist painter, one of the most
famous artists of the 20th century with an unmistakable artistic
style. His paintings are based on dream and imagination. The everyday subjects
are enriched with unusual, often surprising forms.
In the bottom half of the painting a
seemingly amorphous object supported by crutches is located. This is the
"ghost" of Bojnice castle – Count Ján Pálffy. In his hair muses are depicted in
the form of naked women's bodies. According to a legend, the count rebuilt the
castle into a romantic residence for a French Contessa whom he fell in love
with. This project is depicted in the painting in the form of an idea of the
future form of the family residence.
