Bojnice castle á la Vincent van Gogh
Vincent Willem van Gogh (30.3.1853 -
29.7.1890) was a Dutch painter, one of the greatest figures of world visual
arts of the 20th century. He upgraded impressionism to a new level.
With the aim of expressing his feelings, he became the founder of a new
artistic movement – expressionism.
He loved the combination of blue and
yellow. Energy, movement and emotion can be felt from his brushstrokes – this
is further enhanced by the pastiness of the applied paint. It is significantly
visible in the trees or the night sky. The scene pictures one of the
architectural gems of Slovakia, the romantic Bojnice castle in its present
form, after the reconstruction of 1889-1910 carried out by Count Ján Pálffy.
